Self Defense Workshops
I also offer a more bite-sized overview of my Tough Cookie Self Defense system in various Workshops, both in-person and online via Zoom, which briefly cover each of my TC SD steps and ABCs for your travel and street safety in the span of 1-2 hours. Of course, I recommend you take additional training to be fully prepared for whatever you may face. But these Workshops are a good introductory overview to get you started with a strong foundation of the basics, as well as a better sense of yourself and what you’re already capable of.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am not currently offering in-person Self Defense Workshops, though they will hopefully resume soon. In the meantime, I do have upcoming online Workshops you can join. Join my email list and visit my Self Defense Workshop page to be first to hear when those happen.

What Is Travel Self Defense?
We all recognize the importance of learning self defense. But making time to learn it is a different story.
Self defense may not always feel like an immediate need (and if it doesn’t for you, gurl I hope you know how lucky you are).

I have been leading self defense training for women all over the US, both in corporate and private group settings, as well as 1-on-1. But the way I teach self defense is unique. Because I’ve actually been through it in real life. I don’t mean in martial arts matches or in a war zone. As much as I respect those experiences, that’s not the same as self defense.
I’m talking about being unexpectedly attacked. I have had to suddenly defend myself, face unforeseen violence where I live and on my travels. And I’ve come out the other end a survivor. It’s taught me one key lesson that most other self defense instructors and classes don’t tell you — Self defense is about more than how to physically fight. So much more.
It’s as mental and emotional as it is physical. Sharpening your mental skills as much as your physical ones will give you the best chance for survival. Especially when you’re traveling in less familiar territory, though it applies everywhere.
As women, we are especially equipped to master such mental and emotional strengths necessary. And that’s quite helpful, considering the statistics show that assaults are overwhelmingly against women. We need all the help we can get. Survival is about fighting smart, not tough. With your mind as much as with your fists.
All women deserve to learn how to defend themselves like the intuitive, emotionally intelligent Cookies they are. So why not learn from other women? In a class designed by a woman? For women. Like you! From one Tough Cookie to another.
A More Holistic Step-By-Step System
As a martial artist and stunt woman, I’m trained in how to defend oneself physically with the most effective defensive moves and maneuvers. But all that training won’t prepare you for the mental side of the equation. Mental preparation is just as important as physical practice.
My unique approach covers both those ideal physical moves taught in other classes, but from the perspective of a woman who’s actually used them, as well as the mental, emotional, and legal implications of defending yourself. This means preparing yourself for how it will feel, what impact it’ll have, and (most of all) how to develop the soft skills to help you detect and avoid danger without fighting at all.
My step-by-step system takes you through essential mental and physical elements designed to help you maximize your chances of keeping yourself safe while taking the minimum amount of risk. Each step is super simple and logical, as easy as your ABCs, so it won’t be hard to remember what to do next when your adrenaline kicks into high gear.
